La primera ke las guisas es la vava de Elena:
The first recipe is that of Elena’s grandmother:
Ya la hace bokadikos i la mete en una sena.
She cuts it into little pieces and serves it for dinner.
Esta komida la yaman: komida de berendjena.
And the meal is called: a dish of eggplant.

La segunda ke la guisa es la mujer del Shamas:

She hollows it out and fills it with herbs.
Esta komida la yaman: la komida la dolmá.

La trecera ke la guisa es mi prima Ester de Chiote:

Antes ke venga el guzano i le kite la sabor.
Before the worm comes and takes away the flavor.

En las mezas de las fiestas syempre briya el jandrajo
On the banquet tables always sparkles the jandrajo
Ya l’hacemos pastelikos, i las briyan en loz platos
We make little pastries, and they shine on the plates
Asperando a ser servidos kon los guevos haminados.
Waiting to be served with hard-boiled eggs.

La salata maljasina es pastosa i savorida,
The maljasina salad is rich and tasty,
Mi vezina la prepara kon muncho aceite de oliva.
My neighbor makes it with lots of olive oil.
Estos platos acompanyan a los rostros de gayinas.
This dish accompanies grilled hens.

La setena ke la guise es mejor i mas janina:
The seventh way is the best and most exquisite:
La prepara Filisti, la hija de la vezina
Filisti makes it, the neighbor’s daughter
Ya la mete en el forno de kaveza a la kocina
She puts it in the oven in an open dish
Kon aceite kon pimienta i la yama una meyína.
With oil and pepper and it’s called a meyina.
